Petronas’ digital transformation process for wells connects third-party applications to their FeNEX system
As part of Petronas’ digital transformation process for wells they have been working to connect third-party applications to their Front End Well Engineering Nexus (FeNEX) system. This has successfully been performed with the Wellbarrier? well integrity life cycle solution.
Petronas have been working on a digital transformation approach for wells with four main focus areas: data interaction, excellence, collaboration, and holistic nature. They have looked to Wellbarrier planning and Wellbarrier integrity management to safeguard their well integrity throughout the lifecycle of the well. As part of this transformation, the Wellbarrier solution communicates with Petronas’s FeNEX system—enabling well engineers to better design barrier envelops and ensure well integrity at every step during the planning and designing of well construction operations.
The communication between the Wellbarrier solution and FeNEX has enabled Petronas to work in a single orchestrator platform, allowed them use of optimized technical application solutions, and demonstrated the ability of the Wellbarrier solution to connect with third-party applications. This has enabled Petronas to utilize a single source of truth (SSOT) for their data and driven the enhancement of well design, well integrity, and excellence in well operations.
Technical details
Petronas FeNEX pushes well data—using a secured, closed-ended representational state transfer (REST) API connector which includes hole-casing, completion, well properties etc.—to the Wellbarrier solution and can create multiple drawings using pre-defined templates. Once the diagrams are finalized Petronas FeNEX pulls all barrier diagrams from the Wellbarrier solution for storage and display in the Petronas FeNEX user interface.
