Petrel Structural and Fault Analysis

Overview

The Petrel™ structural and fault analysis module allows for more accurate mapping of faults, rapid definition of critical flowing or sealing windows along the faults, better integration of fault properties and geometries within the simulator, and the ability to easily tune fault data to observed core or dynamic data.

The potential flow indicator allows visualisation of the bulk permeability defined from the host and fault rock.

Displacement calculated for structural framework faults.

Any seismic attribute can be extracted onto structural framework faults, helping interpretation tasks around these faulted areas.

Well juxtaposition analysis allows for rapid understanding of seal potential at the exploration stage without creating a 3D grid.

Confidence map showing surface stability of the interpretation together with strength of amplitudes on and around the pick.

Defining discrete breaks in the interpretation in order to produce a high resolution image of the fault network.

Benefits

The module allows geoscientists to perform fault seal analysis faster, more simply, and with greater accuracy and repeatability. Fault transmissibility multipliers can be calculated, analyzed, and modified to provide critical input into accurate flow simulation models.
